One of Kazakhstan’s most impressive natural landmarks. Over millions of years, wind and water have sculpted unusual rock formations here, giving the canyon its name, ‘The Valley of Castles’.

Charyn Canyon

A unique mountain lake, famous for its submerged coniferous forest. The trunks of the fir trees rising straight out of the water create one of the most unusual natural landscapes in Central Asia and make Kaindy a true symbol of Kazakhstan.

Lake Kaindy

A cascade of mountain lakes, surrounded by coniferous forests and the high peaks of the Northern Tien Shan. The crystal-clear water, tranquillity and incredible scenery make Kolsai one of the most beautiful places in Kazakhstan.

The Kolsai Lakes

A vast expanse where desert plains give way to mountains, steppes and the Ili River valley. The park’s main natural feature is the ‘Singing Barchan’, a sand dune which, in dry weather, emits a deep rumble reminiscent of the sound of an organ.

Altyn-Emel National Park

The multicoloured chalk mountains within the Altyn-Emel National Park. White, red, pink and golden layers form a landscape that looks as though it could be the surface of another planet.

The Aktau Mountains

A high-altitude plateau with endless meadows, clear skies and panoramic views of the Zailiyskiy Alatau. Set amongst these open spaces is the Assy Observatory, which has become one of the most recognisable landmarks along this remote mountain route.

The Assa Plateau

A picturesque area on the banks of the Ili River, renowned for its ancient rock art and Buddhist inscriptions. Here, the cliffs and the wide river valley seem to bring nature and history together.
